Inspired by the functional beauty of Japanese cookware, this unique ceramic piece is designed for making fresh tofu. No two molds are the same, as the hand throwing and glazing process creates irreplicable wabi-sabi beauty. Curves soften during the firing process, and glazes take on movement and life of their own.

This piece has a highly dynamic glaze with many hues of blue, reminiscent of a favorite pair of well-worn blue jeans. Small drips on the base amplify the sense of movement and add to the charm.

This piece is a studio second (due to minor cosmetic flaw; see final two photos): A small piece of the base of the mold chipped away, as the glaze ran too heavily during the firing process. The chipped area has been sanded down and color corrected.
